SHIPWRECKED -- RESCUED BY JESUS

This year the St. Kevin’s Youth & Family Ministry welcomes all children currently in Sr. Kindergarten to Gr. 6 to our Vacation Bible School; “Shipwrecked - Rescued by Jesus”. It will be an amazing experience that will help them discover that Jesus Rescues them. Today’s generation is like no other in history! They’ve been “linked in” since day one with instant access to a sea of information. A constant media fed and increasing psh toward excellence has led to waves of worries an struggles that kids have never faced before. Kids leave “Shipwrecked” VBS knowing that there is Someone bigger than their struggles, Someone stronger than their weakness, Someone who loves them unconditionally...Jesus.

Our program will immerse our children in Bible-times culture, helping them to explore what it might have been to like to live as the church was just beginning. They’ll experience new traditions, taste new foods, try new arts and crafts projects, and discover that God’s love is the most powerful gift, saving us from our sins.

It will be an opportunity for the kids to use their imaginations to venture onto an uncharted island where the kids survive and thrive. We will take time during that week to anchor them in the truth that Jesus carries them through life’s storms. During “Shipwrecked” VBS we’ll help the children find that there’s something deeper connecting them to Jesus in a more personal way. They won’t just memorize bible verses, they’ll personalize them. They won’t just learn a Bible story every day, they’ll experience it. These external truths will be reinforced every day in every activity they do, through science experiments, music and dance movements, crafts, games, story time and even the snacks.
VBS will take place this year at Notre Dame College School the week of August 13th to 17th from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Registration forms are online on the church’s website under the “Youth” tab, in the foyer at the Youth & Family display table and the church office. Completed forms may be scanned and sent to stkevinsyouthministry1@gmail.com, dropped off at the church office or placed in the collection plate at Mass. Please use one registration form per child and feel free to bring a friend.

Don’t wait for the last minute to register as space is limited. Our program is once again free of charge with donations to the St. Kevin’s Food Bank so all are welcome. In order to help with supplies and needs of the program, there is a “Wish List” of items needed. Please be generous as we would like to make this experience a lasting one.

We ask that you pray for our volunteers as they train and prepare for VBS 2017 and for all the children that will be participating in the program. We pray that we are able to change their, minds and hearts with the power of the Holy Spirit and in turn change our communities, both locally and globally.
